Union Gap Mayor says they're moving closer to dealing with mold

UNION GAP, Wash.-- The City of Union Gap is hoping to start work soon to clean out the toxic black mold in the city police and fire departments.

Mayor Jim Lemon says repairs on both buildings will likely take about three months once they find a contractor.

Lemon says the city council is also leaning toward demolishing the city hall building instead of cleaning up the mold there but they haven't made an official decision yet.

"When you get to that amount of money, half a million dollars for repairing city hall... Well twice that much an build a new city hall. So, does it make sense? Are we still gonna have the same problems? We'll still have a flat roof," says Union Gap Mayor Jim Lemon.

Lemon says the city is still looking for a new temporary city hall that's in a safer area one possibility is the old Stanton Academy campus.
